Apple Raises Prices of Macs and iPads in India as AI Hardware Costs Climb

Apple has increased prices of several Mac and iPad models in India, with premium variants becoming significantly more expensive as AI driven hardware upgrades and rising component costs reshape pricing.

Apple has revised the prices of several of its premium devices in India, making select MacBooks, iPads, Mac Studio and Mac mini models considerably more expensive. While entry level variants have seen moderate increases, some high end configurations now cost up to ₹100000 more than before. The move comes as the company continues to invest heavily in artificial intelligence capabilities and next generation hardware.

Industry experts say the latest price revision reflects the growing cost of building AI ready devices. Apple is introducing more advanced on device AI features under its Apple Intelligence platform, which requires faster processors, larger memory capacities and higher storage options. These improvements increase manufacturing costs, especially for premium models designed to handle demanding AI workloads.

Another major reason behind the hike is the global shortage of advanced memory chips. High bandwidth memory components are currently in high demand not only from smartphone makers but also from companies building AI data centers. The surge in demand has pushed component prices higher, affecting production costs across the technology industry.

Apple is also spending billions of dollars on research and development to expand its custom silicon chips and AI ecosystem. These investments are aimed at delivering devices capable of supporting future software updates and more powerful AI features. Analysts believe a portion of these long term development costs is now being reflected in the retail prices of Apple’s premium products.

Despite the increase, Apple’s ecosystem continues to attract loyal customers who value seamless integration between devices, long software support and premium performance. The company appears confident that demand for its high end products will remain strong even with the higher price tags.

Interestingly, the latest revision does not affect every Apple product. Prices of iPhones, AirPods and Apple Watch models in India remain unchanged for now. However, market observers believe the growing role of AI in consumer electronics could lead to higher prices across more product categories in the future.

As AI becomes a standard feature in modern computing, manufacturers are expected to focus on more powerful hardware. Consumers planning to upgrade may need to prepare for higher prices, particularly for devices equipped with advanced AI capabilities and top end specifications.
