Drunk Man Steals RTC Bus in Jangaon and Crashes After 21 Kilometres

A drunk man allegedly drove away an unattended RTC bus from Jangaon bus station before crashing it after travelling 21 kilometres, leaving police stunned by his explanation.

A bizarre incident unfolded in Telangana’s Jangaon district after an intoxicated man allegedly drove away an unattended RTC bus from the local bus station and crashed it nearly 21 kilometres later. Fortunately, no passengers were on board and no injuries were reported.

According to police, the accused, identified as Venkanna from Palakurthi, allegedly entered the parked bus late at night when the driver and conductor were not present. He managed to start the vehicle and drove it towards Suryapet without attracting immediate attention.

The bus continued along the highway for around 21 kilometres before the driver reportedly lost control near the Singarajupalli toll plaza. The vehicle rammed into a concrete barrier, causing damage to its front portion and bringing the unusual journey to an end.

Police rushed to the spot after receiving information about the crash. They found the accused inside the bus in an intoxicated condition and took him into custody for questioning.

During interrogation, Venkanna reportedly told officers that he had taken the bus only to experience driving it and wanted to go for a trial run. His explanation surprised the investigating officers.

Authorities said the incident could have resulted in a major tragedy if the bus had been carrying passengers or collided with other vehicles. Following a complaint from RTC officials, police registered a case and initiated legal action against the accused.
