Bandi Bhageerath Gets Bail: Telangana High Court Grants Conditional Bail to Bandi Bhageerath in POCSO Case

The Telangana High Court granted conditional bail to Bandi Bhageerath in the POCSO case after hearing both sides while directing him to fully cooperate with the ongoing investigation

Bandi Bhageerath Gets Bail: The Telangana High Court has granted conditional bail to Bandi Bhageerath, son of Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar, in connection with a POCSO case registered at Pet Basheerabad Police Station in Hyderabad. The court directed him to cooperate fully with the ongoing investigation and comply with all bail conditions.

The order brings significant relief to Bhageerath, who had remained in judicial custody for more than 45 days after being arrested by the police on May 16. The bail decision follows detailed arguments presented by both the defence and the prosecution before the High Court.

The case originated with the registration of an FIR on May 8 at the Pet Basheerabad Police Station. During the hearing, Bhageerath’s counsel argued that the incident involved mutual consent and referred to previous Supreme Court and High Court judgments to support the request for bail. The defence also submitted that Bhageerath is a student and that prolonged imprisonment could have a serious impact on his education and future.

The prosecution opposed the bail plea, stating that the investigation was nearing completion and expressing concern that granting bail at this stage could influence witnesses connected to the case.

After hearing both sides in detail, Justice K Sujana had earlier reserved the verdict before delivering the final order. The High Court has now granted conditional bail, making it clear that Bhageerath must strictly follow all conditions imposed by the court throughout the investigation.

The decision ends weeks of legal uncertainty surrounding the case and provides relief to Bhageerath and his family, while the investigation into the matter will continue in accordance with the law.
