Ganguly Enters ICC Hall of Fame: Sourav Ganguly Earns ICC Hall of Fame Honour on His 54th Birthday

Ganguly Enters ICC Hall of Fame: Former India captain Sourav Ganguly has been inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame, receiving one of cricket’s highest honours on the occasion of his 54th birthday. With this achievement, he becomes the 12th Indian and the 10th Indian male cricketer to receive the prestigious recognition.

Sharing his happiness on social media, Ganguly thanked the International Cricket Council and its Chairman Jay Shah for the honour. He said it was a proud moment to be included alongside some of the greatest names the sport has ever produced. The official announcement is expected after the ICC Annual Conference in Scotland on July 11.

Widely known as Dada, Ganguly played a defining role in rebuilding Indian cricket during one of its most difficult periods. After taking over as captain following the match fixing crisis in 2000, he introduced an aggressive and fearless approach that transformed the team’s mindset.

Under his leadership, India reached the final of the 2003 Cricket World Cup and secured memorable Test victories at iconic overseas venues including Lord’s and Headingley. Ganguly also backed several young players, including Virender Sehwag and Yuvraj Singh, who later became key figures in Indian cricket.

Beyond his playing career, Ganguly continued to serve the game as President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India. His induction into the ICC Hall of Fame is widely viewed as recognition of both his achievements on the field and his lasting influence on Indian cricket.

With this honour, Ganguly joins an elite list of Indian cricket legends including Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble, MS Dhoni, Virender Sehwag, Diana Edulji, Neetu David, Vinoo Mankad and Bishan Singh Bedi, whose contributions have left a lasting impact on the sport.
