KGBV Student Missing: Police have launched an extensive search after an Intermediate first year student from a Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya in Mancherial district was reported missing on Sunday. The incident has once again raised concerns about safety measures in government residential schools.
The missing student, identified as Sai Shruthi, was studying at the KGBV located in Kotapalli. According to officials, she left the hostel premises on Sunday morning without informing staff members. After repeated attempts to locate her within the campus failed, the hostel authorities lodged a complaint with the local police.
Based on the complaint, police registered a missing person case and formed special teams to trace the student. Officers are examining available leads and gathering information to determine her whereabouts at the earliest.
The latest incident has added to growing concerns among parents, as similar cases involving students leaving government residential institutions have been reported in Mancherial district in recent weeks. In previous incidents, missing students from Chennur and Rebbena residential schools were later traced safely.
Parents and local residents have urged authorities to strengthen security arrangements in KGBVs and other government hostels to prevent such incidents. They have also appealed to officials to ensure the missing student is located safely and that stronger monitoring systems are introduced across residential educational institutions.
Police said the search operation is continuing and further details will be shared as the investigation progresses.
