Free Cotton Seeds: The Telangana government has launched free cotton seed distribution for farmers in 19 districts under the National Cotton Productivity Mission with subsidies shared by the Centre and state.

Free Cotton Seeds: The Telangana government has started distributing free cotton seeds to farmers under the National Cotton Productivity Mission, providing significant support to cotton cultivators ahead of the cultivation season. The initiative will benefit farmers in 19 selected districts across the state.

The seed distribution has commenced at Rythu Vedikas, where eligible farmers will receive notified BT hybrid cotton seeds free of cost. Along with the seeds, beneficiaries will also be provided plant growth regulators and crop protection products, including neem based pesticides, at subsidized rates to improve crop productivity.

The scheme is jointly funded by the Central and Telangana governments, with the Centre bearing 60 percent of the subsidy and the state contributing the remaining 40 percent. A total subsidy of Rs 57.02 crore has been allocated for the program.

Under the scheme, each eligible farmer can receive seeds for up to 2.5 acres of cultivation. The government aims to distribute around 6.33 lakh cotton seed packets to nearly 50,950 farmers, covering approximately 1.27 lakh acres of farmland.

The selected districts include Rangareddy, Sangareddy, Siddipet, Vikarabad, Suryapet, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Nalgonda, Khammam, Jangaon, Warangal, Narayanpet, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Jogulamba Gadwal, Karimnagar, Nirmal, Adilabad, Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, and Mancherial. Officials have urged eligible farmers to collect the seeds from their nearest Rythu Vedika.
