Duplicate Voters Found: Telangana Identifies Five Lakh Duplicate Voters During Special Revision Drive
Duplicate Voters Found: Election officials identified five lakh duplicate voter entries among eighty five lakh suspected records as Telangana prepares for a statewide verification drive and updated electoral roll.

Duplicate Voters Found: The Telangana Election Commission has announced that nearly five lakh duplicate voter entries have been identified during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision process aimed at improving the accuracy of electoral rolls across the state. Officials said the exercise is designed to ensure a cleaner and more reliable voter database ahead of future elections.
According to election authorities, around eighty five lakh voter records have been marked for verification during the revision process. Officials clarified that these records are considered suspected entries requiring scrutiny and that the exercise should not be viewed as a voter deletion campaign.
A statewide door to door survey will begin on June twenty five as part of the verification drive. Election staff will visit households and collect necessary details from voters. Following the completion of the survey, a draft voter list is expected to be published on July thirty one.
Citizens will have an opportunity to submit claims and objections until August thirty. Verification and inquiry into these submissions will continue until September twenty eight, after which the final voter list will be released on October one.
Chief Electoral Officer Sudarshan Reddy urged the public to cooperate with survey teams and assist officials in maintaining a transparent and accurate electoral system. He explained that the revision process is intended to verify voter details and eliminate errors rather than remove eligible voters from the rolls.
Officials also revealed that the voter mapping exercise has made significant progress across the state. Rural areas have recorded higher completion rates, while work in several urban regions is still underway. Authorities stressed that incomplete mapping will not affect a person’s voting rights if the required forms are submitted properly.
The Election Commission further stated that Booth Level Officers have already issued notices to individuals whose records require additional documentation. A final decision regarding such entries will be taken only after examining the supporting documents and completing the verification process.
