Tollywood Votes Shift: Tollywood Celebrities Shift Hyderabad Votes to Andhra Pradesh
Several Tollywood personalities have reportedly chosen to retain their voting rights in their native places in Andhra Pradesh during Telangana’s ongoing voter list revision process.

Tollywood Votes Shift: Several well known Tollywood personalities who had voting rights in Hyderabad’s Jubilee Hills constituency have reportedly opted to keep their names registered in their native places in Andhra Pradesh.
The change has come to light during the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls currently being carried out in Telangana. Election officials said some film industry personalities, including people from prominent families, told booth level officers that they wanted to retain their votes in their hometowns.
According to officials, the decision was taken despite many of these celebrities having lived in Hyderabad for years and owning homes in the city. Their continued connection with their native places and property there are among the reasons cited for retaining their voter registration in Andhra Pradesh.
Jubilee Hills has a large number of people from the Telugu film industry. Actors, directors and producers have made the constituency their home over the years, making the changes noticed during the voter revision particularly significant.
The revision has also identified a substantial number of voters who are no longer living at their registered addresses. In Jubilee Hills, officials found 1,48,859 voters who had permanently moved elsewhere. The list also includes 8,232 deceased voters and 13,500 people whose addresses could not be verified. Another 7,279 voters were reportedly found to have registrations in other places.
The Telangana Election Commission has released the draft electoral roll after carrying out additions, deletions and corrections. Officials said voters included in the anomaly list will receive notices and will have to provide the required documents to confirm their details.
Around 93 lakh voters have reportedly been placed in the anomaly category across Telangana. Those receiving notices have been asked to respond by September 16. Officials will examine the documents before deciding whether the names should remain on the electoral roll.
The voter revision process is aimed at identifying duplicate entries, incorrect details, shifted voters and other discrepancies. The final electoral roll will be prepared after the objections and claims submitted during the prescribed period are examined.
