Honda Vario Evo 160 Launched: Honda has officially launched the new Vario Evo 160 in Indonesia, strengthening its presence in the growing entry level maxi scooter segment. With attractive pricing and modern features, the new scooter is expected to attract buyers looking for a practical yet sporty alternative. Industry experts also believe the Vario Evo 160 could eventually make its way to the Indian market.

The Vario Evo 160 is offered in three variants. The standard CBS version starts at IDR 28525000 which is approximately Rs 1.49 lakh. The CBS Nitro variant is priced at around Rs 1.51 lakh, while the fully equipped ABS model is available for about Rs 1.64 lakh.

Honda has discontinued the earlier Vario 160 and replaced it with the updated Evo version. The scooter is powered by a 160 cc four valve liquid cooled eSP plus engine that produces 15 hp and 14 Nm of peak torque. It comes with a V Matic automatic transmission and can achieve a top speed of 109 kmph. Features include ABS, combi brake system, ACG starter and an idling stop system for improved fuel efficiency.

The Yamaha Aerox Alpha continues to target buyers seeking a more premium riding experience. It is available in six variants, with prices starting at approximately Rs 1.59 lakh and extending beyond Rs 2.19 lakh for the top version. The updated Indonesian model offers advanced technology including Yamaha Electric CVT, Turbo technology, front and rear disc brakes, a full colour TFT display and an integrated performance damper.

Performance figures remain closely matched between the two scooters. The Aerox Alpha is powered by a 155 cc engine delivering 15 hp and 14.2 Nm of torque. It also features city and sport riding modes, Turbo Y Shift acceleration control, dual projector LED headlamps, traction control, Google Maps navigation and the Y Connect smartphone system.

Interest in the maxi scooter segment continues to grow, and more manufacturers are preparing new products for the category. Apart from Honda, TVS is also developing a new maxi style scooter that is expected to compete with the Yamaha Aerox 155 and Hero Xoom 160. If introduced in India, the Honda Vario Evo 160 could offer buyers another exciting choice in the premium scooter segment.
