Sudan Traveler With Ebola Exposure History Shifted to Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad

Health authorities in Hyderabad have stepped up precautionary measures after a passenger arriving from Sudan was identified as having a history linked to possible Ebola virus exposure during routine screening at the airport.

The traveler, identified as Mohammed, landed at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad on Thursday. As part of standard health monitoring procedures, he underwent medical screening at a government operated health checkpoint set up for international arrivals.

During the examination, medical personnel reportedly detected information indicating an Ebola related exposure history. Officials immediately activated precautionary protocols and decided to transfer the passenger to a specialized isolation facility for further observation and evaluation.

The traveler was subsequently shifted to Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad, where dedicated isolation arrangements have been established to handle suspected cases of infectious diseases. Medical teams are closely monitoring his condition while following all necessary safety procedures.

Hospital authorities stated that biological samples have been collected from the passenger and sent to the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology for detailed laboratory testing. The final diagnosis will depend on the outcome of these tests.

Health officials emphasized that the transfer was carried out as a preventive measure in line with established public health guidelines. They noted that early identification and isolation are critical steps in managing potential infectious disease risks and ensuring public safety.

Authorities are also reviewing the traveler’s recent travel history and maintaining coordination between airport health officials and hospital staff. Additional measures, if required, will be taken based on the laboratory findings.
