Petrol and Diesel Prices Rise Again Across India as Fuel Costs Continue to Climb
The latest increase in petrol and diesel prices has added fresh financial pressure on commuters and households, with fuel rates revised upward across major Indian cities from today onward.

People across the country are once again facing higher fuel expenses after petrol and diesel prices were increased nationwide. The revised rates came into effect immediately, with petrol becoming costlier by Rs. 0.87 per litre and diesel prices rising by Rs. 0.91 per litre.
This marks the third fuel price revision in recent months, raising concerns among daily commuters, transport operators, and middle class families already dealing with rising living expenses. Earlier, petrol prices had witnessed a steep increase of Rs. 3 per litre, followed by another hike of nearly 90 paise on both fuels.
Officials stated that the decision was taken due to the financial burden faced by state owned oil marketing companies such as Indian Oil Corporation, HPCL, and BPCL. According to the government, fuel prices had remained under control for several years despite fluctuations in the global crude oil market, resulting in heavy losses for these companies.
The government also blamed rising international crude oil prices for the latest increase. Ongoing tensions in the Middle East have affected global oil supply and pricing. Since India imports a large share of its crude oil requirement from overseas markets, domestic petrol and diesel prices are directly impacted by international developments.
Experts say the fuel hike could affect more than just vehicle owners. Higher diesel prices are expected to increase transportation costs for trucks and commercial vehicles, which may eventually push up prices of vegetables, groceries, milk, and other essential goods. Economists believe the latest revision could add further pressure on inflation in the coming weeks.
Fuel prices in major cities have also been updated following the latest hike. In Hyderabad, petrol now costs Rs. 112.71 per litre while diesel is priced at Rs. 100.86. In Vijayawada, petrol is selling at Rs. 113.95 and diesel at Rs. 101.11 per litre.
In Delhi, petrol is priced at Rs. 99.51 while diesel costs Rs. 92.49 per litre. In Mumbai, petrol rates have reached Rs. 108.46 and diesel stands at Rs. 94.99 per litre.
Meanwhile, petrol in Bengaluru is priced at Rs. 108.02 while diesel costs Rs. 95.95. In Kolkata, petrol is available at Rs. 110.57 and diesel at Rs. 96.98 per litre. In Chennai, petrol is being sold at Rs. 105.38 while diesel costs Rs. 97.02 per litre.
