Hyderabad Bengaluru Bullet Train Corridor Survey Nears Final Stage
The proposed Hyderabad Bengaluru bullet train corridor is expected to pass through Nallamala forests and Somashila region with five high speed railway stations planned across Telangana.

The ambitious Hyderabad Bengaluru bullet train project has moved a step closer as the preliminary survey for the high speed rail corridor is nearing completion. The proposed route is designed to improve connectivity between the two major technology hubs while significantly reducing travel time.
According to the latest alignment plan, the bullet train corridor will begin from Kokapet near Hyderabad and pass through Shamshabad, Bharat Future City, Mannanur and Somashila before entering Andhra Pradesh and later reaching Bengaluru in Karnataka. Around 205 kilometres of the corridor will fall within Telangana limits.
Officials said the revised route was prepared after suggestions from the Telangana government. Earlier plans considered a route through Mahabubnagar and Wanaparthy Road, but the state proposed that the corridor should instead pass through regions that currently lack strong railway connectivity. The National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited is now reportedly favouring the new alignment.
One of the major highlights of the proposed route is its passage through the scenic Nallamala forest region and areas near the Krishna river. The train corridor is expected to touch Mannanur within the Amrabad Tiger Reserve zone before connecting towards Kurnool.
The project is also expected to create major infrastructure growth in several parts of Telangana. Five modern high speed railway stations have been proposed in Kokapet corridor regions including Shamshabad, Bharat Future City, Amangal, Mannanur and Somashila. These stations are likely to improve tourism, business activity and regional development.
Officials involved in the survey process said environmental clearances could become a major challenge, especially in forest and ghat road sections between Mannanur and Srisailam. Authorities are examining eco friendly engineering solutions to minimise environmental impact in protected areas.
Surveys are currently underway for two possible connectivity options between Kokapet and Shamshabad. One proposal follows the Outer Ring Road corridor while another alignment is being studied outside the ORR stretch. A detailed project report will be prepared after the completion of the initial survey phase.
Once operational, the bullet train is expected to run at speeds between 250 and 300 kilometres per hour. The travel time between Hyderabad and Bengaluru could come down to nearly two and a half to three hours, offering a major boost to intercity transportation in South India.
