HMWSSB GM Anantha Lakshmi Kumar Sent to 14 Day Judicial Remand

A major corruption case surfaced after ACB raids uncovered large cash reserves, gold assets, and properties linked to HMWSSB General Manager Anantha Lakshmi Kumar.

A large scale anti corruption investigation has brought Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board official Anantha Lakshmi Kumar into the spotlight after officials reportedly uncovered assets worth massive value during recent searches.

The court on Wednesday sent HMWSSB General Manager Anantha Lakshmi Kumar to 14 days of judicial remand after Anti Corruption Bureau officials presented him before a judge following the registration of a disproportionate assets case. He was later shifted to Chanchalguda Jail.

The investigation began after the Anti Corruption Bureau received information suggesting that the official had allegedly accumulated assets beyond his known sources of income. Special teams carried out simultaneous searches at multiple locations connected to him.

The raids were conducted across nine locations including residences and offices situated in Hyderabad, Nizamabad, and Sangareddy districts. Officials also searched his primary residence located in Mallapur as part of the operation.

During the searches, investigators reportedly found cash amounting to Rs 1.10 crore at his residence. Apart from cash, authorities seized around 2.1 kilograms of gold ornaments and approximately 9.2 kilograms of silver items.

The investigation also identified a large number of properties allegedly linked to him including 18 acres of land, three flats, and six open plots. Based on current estimates, officials believe the total market value of the assets may be close to Rs 100 crore.

The case has now become a major topic of discussion due to the scale of assets uncovered, while further investigation by the Anti Corruption Bureau is expected to continue.
