The high level discussion focused on development priorities, infrastructure expansion, and strengthening cooperation between the state and the Centre.

Following the meeting, Shivakumar described the interaction as positive and constructive. He said the discussions centered on Karnataka’s future growth and recalled the Prime Minister’s assurance of continued support for the state’s welfare and development.

The visit also carried political significance as Shivakumar participated in the 11th Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog chaired by Prime Minister Modi. Karnataka government seeks central assistance for transport infrastructure, metro expansion, and urban development projects during high level discussions in New Delhi.

Before meeting the Prime Minister, Shivakumar held talks with Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar. A major focus of that discussion was Bengaluru’s growing traffic congestion and the need for faster implementation of large scale transport projects.

Among the proposals presented by the Karnataka government were elevated corridors and peripheral ring roads aimed at easing traffic around Bengaluru. The state also requested quicker approvals for Bengaluru Metro Phase 3 and support for revised funding requirements related to Phase 2.

The Chief Minister additionally pushed for improved regional connectivity linking Bengaluru with nearby cities such as Mysuru, Tumakuru, and Kolar through modern transport networks. He also sought central assistance for advanced sewage treatment infrastructure to support the city’s expanding urban needs.

Officials said the Delhi meetings were aimed at securing stronger cooperation and financial support for projects that could accelerate Karnataka’s economic growth while improving urban infrastructure and public services across the state.
